Genkai is more than a restaurant to us — it’s personal. As a locally owned and family-operated restaurant, owners Kou and Nalee are here every day, working alongside our incredible team to make sure every guest feels genuinely welcomed and cared for.

For over 40 years, Genkai has been proud to call Chico home. Since opening its doors in 1986, Genkai has had the privilege of serving generations of families, celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, first dates, family dinners, graduations, and many of life’s special moments.
One of our greatest joys is watching children who once dined here with their parents return years later with families of their own. Those moments remind us that a restaurant can become more than somewhere you go for dinner. It can become part of your story.
